Top Rated Robot Vacuums
A robot vacuum can keep your floors clean enough to cut down on the frequency of manual hoovering. Look for one that offers an easy navigation, can clean corners and stairs, and has a large dust bin that needs emptying only once in a while.
You can also find models that clean and charge on their own which can be essential for those who have pets or kids. Many of the best performers in our tests have great obstacle avoidance.
1. IRobot Roomba i3+ EVO
The i3+ EVO and its sibling the i3 EVO are both identical robots that differ only in that the i3+ comes with self-emptying features. This makes the i3+ a good choice for people who want an entirely automated, hands-free cleaning experience, but aren't afraid of having to empty their dust bin manually when it is full.
Both robots are adept at cleaning up surface debris from carpets and hard floors and they're excellent at moving around furniture and other obstacles. iAdapt navigation software makes a smart maps of your home that assist the i3+ to navigate and clean up efficiently. However unlike the i7+ or other top-rated robots that we tested the i3+ doesn't have a feature for avoiding obstacles which means it can get stuck on things such as socks or power cords, and it can have difficulty traversing transitions across surfaces, such as from hardwood to rug.

iRobot suggests that you clean the area in which the i3+ EVO vacuums before using it. This includes putting away any toys or clutter it might come across. It's also recommended to keep the dustbin and filter clean so that they don't become clogged with dirt. When the i3+ EVO's internal bin is empty or the battery is not fully charged, it returns to the docking station and automatically takes the dirt out of the docking station's external dustbin. It then continues cleaning from where it began. The i3+ EVO's batteries last for about an hour and a half continuous use, and takes about three hours to recharge.
2. IRobot Roomba i7+
The iRobot Roomba i7+ is the most powerful model in the iRobot flagship line and is equipped with the most recent features. It is self-charging and self-navigating. However, the most important feature is the self-emptying bin. This eliminates the need for routine maintenance.
The Roomba I7+ can better map rooms with Imprint Smart Mapping. It also works with the iRobot Home app to let you schedule cleaning tasks and direct your robot by voice or through the app.
In our tests, the i7+ was more agile and faster than our runner-up and the eufy RoboVac G30, and it took large pieces of pet hair from all surfaces types, including carpeting. Its biggest advantage over the eufy, is its self-emptying dustbin, which eliminates a major cause of maintenance and cuts down on the cost of maintenance.
We were also impressed by the i7+'s compatibility with Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant AI services which we used to instruct the robot to start, stop or pause its cleaning sessions, move itself around the room, and even vacuum a specific space. The iRobot Home App made it easy to connect the i7+ with these services. Once connected we were able to give the i7+ voice commands such as "Hey Alexa, vacuum the master bedroom." The iRobot Home App also offers options for managing i7+ settings and evaluating the performance.
3. Dyson Cyclone V10
This tiny Dyson model is a sports car in a world of vacuums powered by cordless that resemble minivans and buses. It is powerful enough to replace a stand-up vacuum in most homes, but also small enough to fit on a coffee table or bookcase.
The V10 is powered by a 7-cell high-energy lithium-ion battery that can provide fade-free power for 60 minutes. The advanced whole-machine filtering system is able to trap allergens and then releases cleaner air into your home. Its cleaning head is specially designed and drives bristles of nylon that are stiff and deep into carpet to suck up large particles and fine dust. It comes with three suction settings to suit the task being performed. It is able to quickly switch between handheld and floor vacuum, and vice versa.
This model has a dock which charges the Dyson to 100 percent in 3.5 hours. It also gives easy access to 2 attachments as well as a handheld. This is a huge improvement over older Dysons, which require a lengthy charge and are difficult to store.
The V10's main drawback is its short running time. Its marketing claims that it has up to 60 minutes of run time are not true as CR's tests show. This is a typical and not a remarkable run time for the battery-powered cordless vacuum. It's enough time to vacuum the typical home however, it's not enough time to reach every area. (A second pass is usually sufficient). This model has its own advantages however: it's lighter and more mobile than previous Dysons cordless models and its ability to vacuum is significantly better for carpet floors with low pile.
4. iRobot Roomba 694"
One of the most well-known robot vacuums the 694 is an affordable model that's a great choice for people who don't wish to spend too much money on a robot. It was able to pick up the majority of types of debris and sizes in our tests, and frequently went over the same area many times to give a thorough clean. Its flat front end helps it to reach into corners and along the edges of walls and walls, which is a nice touch.
Its navigation system is smart and uses iAdapt technology to steer clear of obstacles and navigate your home. However, it lacks the mapping capabilities of more advanced models, like our top picks, i3+EVO and j7+ Series. As a result, it may get stuck on things like phone cords and low furniture, and it often will run out of battery before returning to its home base.
The Xiaomi Mi robot vacuum is superior to the Roomba 694 in all aspects, as it has fewer components that require regular cleaning It also comes with an allergen-trapping HEPA filter, has lower recurring costs, comes with more advanced automation capabilities and does a better job moving itself. good robot vacuum has a bigger dustbin and is charged faster.
The sleek RoboVac X8 has a superior battery life than the Roomba. It also comes with physical boundaries strips that can be controlled with the voice assistant on your smartphone. It also feels better-built and has a stronger motor, and works better on floors that are bare and carpets with low pile, while providing a greater variety of features for automation.

The app offers a wide range of options to customize your robotic cleaner. This includes virtual barriers, mopping levels and behavior customizations, docking frequency settings and many more. It's easy to comprehend and user-friendly, as is the case with other Samsung devices.
In our tests our tests, the Jet Bot AI+ excelled on hard floors, and also handled dog hair (on carpet) quite well, cleaning up 86 percent of it. However, it did not do particularly well with taller objects like cords and socks which was a disappointment. It's also a little more expensive than some of the other models we tested and could be a problem for certain shoppers.
The smart vacuum has an onboard camera that is accessible through the app, and you can also set up a live stream from the robot's cleaning station. This feature allows you to keep track of your pets or kids when you're away from home. The filter and dustbin can be cleaned to make cleanup quick and easy.
